Travel south on the Seward Highway, one of America’s National Scenic Byways, with dramatic views of moutain scenery, glaciers and wildlife such as dall sheep or moose. The Turnagain Arm is choked with ice floes, often several feet thick. Head onto the Sterling Highway towards Anchor Point where you'll be able to see five volcanoes. These peaks mark the beginning of the Aleutian Chain and are part of the "Ring of Fire," a string of volcanic and seismic hot spots circling the Pacific. This is the western most point to which you can drive on the North American continent.

Day 06 Homer
Homer, at the southwestern tip of the Kenai Peninsula on Kachemak Bay is blessed with a view to the south that is stunning in its beauty and grandeur. Homer's most unusual feature is the five-mile-long spit that juts out into Kachemak Bay. The character of the spit changes in the winter, when eagles throng to it. They can be found, as thick as sparrows, roosting on rooftops, on coal piles, on every suitable surface -- attracted by the promise of lots of fish, delivered by a woman who for several years has ensured that they remain well fed. They are fascinating to observe and particularly exciting to photograph.
