TOUR ITINERARY

Day 01 Juneau / Auke Bay
Individual arrival in Juneau. Depart at 8:00 am for a scenic cruise through one of the most dramatic sites in the world - Tracy Arm Fjord. This narrow fjord twists and turns for over 30 miles, culminating in a spectacular view of the twin tidewater Sawyer Glaciers. Your captain will navigate as close as the ice floe allows, stopping for an extended stay at the face of the glacier. Watch for seals relaxing on the icebergs, bald eagles soaring above the cliffs and many other animals that call this area home. Learn about the natural history of the fjord, its glaciers and the wildlife from our onboard naturalist. Gain insights into Tlingit Native culture. Enjoy a hot lunch during your journey and return to Juneau at 5:00 pm.

Overnight:
The deluxe inn is located at the site of an old Alaskan fish cannery on a remote ocean peninsula at the end of a private road with a tremendous view of the ocean, mountains and glaciers. The classic 17th century design timberframe inn from local woods is at the center, but there are also a log lodge and cedar bungalow with a barn, horse and riding arena, private dock and gear for fishing. Guest rooms feature private bath. This is a very private and classy retreat for nature lover.

Day 02 Juneau / Auke Bay
You're in for the journey of a lifetime. Fly in a nostalgic floatplane where everyone enjoys an unrestricted window view and fully narrated portrayal. View five breathtaking glaciers on your way to the wilderness lodge. The highlight of your flight will be viewing magnificent glaciers and deep blue crevasses of the Juneau Icefield. Snow-capped mountains, cascading waterfalls and lush forests await. Land in front of a historic wilderness lodge, built in 1923 directly across from the picturesque Hole-In-The-Wall Glacier. Shortly after your arrival, the aroma of fresh Wild Alaska King Salmon tells you the feast is about to begin. While enjoying your barbecue meal, your host will entertain you with stories of the colorful past. Afterwards you may wander the well-maintained trails of the old growth forest independently, explore on a guided interpretative nature walk, or relax with a beverage and soak in the serenity of a place scarcely touched by time. Return to Juneau and stay another night at the deluxe country inn.

Day 03 Juneau – Admiralty Island
Morning sightseeing flight from Auke Bay to Admiralty Island. Upon arrival transfer to the 5-acre beachfront homestead. Admiralty Island has the highest concentration of brown bears in the world. Six salmon streams empty into Funter Bay, and when the salmon are running, bears are feeding. It has been possible to watch these spectacular animals from the comfort of the dining room, as they go about their lives. In the evening twilight during the salmon spawn, it is not unusual to see a brown bear sow and her cubs chase spawning salmon in the stream that runs across the nearby tide flats.

Overnight: The 5-acre beachfront homestead on Admiralty Island features three large dwellings, that retains a delightful frontier character, yet has all the modern conveniences such as private baths, comfortable beds, electricity and hot and cold running water. In the evening you'll partake in delicious meals that often feature fresh salmon, crab that you helped pick from the crab pots, and vegetables from the homestead's impressive garden.

Day 04 Admiralty Island
Spend the entire day on Admiralty Island. Your personal guides will go with you hiking in the rainforest, beachcombing from an open skiff, or cruising Chatham and Icy Straits looking for wildlife. Your pulse will race the first time you see a bear in the wild. Watch the magnificent bears feasting on migrating salmon, and you will come to understand why this land was known to the native Tlinget as Kootznoowoo - "Fortress of the Bears."  Return to your homestead for another night on Admiralty Island.

Day 05 Admiralty Island - Glacier Bay
Return flight to Juneau and continue on to Gustavus, the gateway to Glacier Bay National Park. In the afternoon enjoy the whale watching tour to Icy Strait, Point Adolphus. During the 2 1/2 hour cruise you see majestic wildlife, including humpback and orca whales, sea lions and sea otters, bald eagles, puffins and much more. Return to Gustavus at around 5:00 pm. Transfer to your lodge.

Overnight: The unique deluxe log lodge is situated on the tranquil shores of Gustavus and features exquisite accommodations, incredible activities, scrumptious meals, true Alaskan ambience and hospitality. The hand-crafted log construction features 14 spacious guest rooms, each with private baths and two queen size beds.

Day 06 Glacier Bay National Park
This tour is the “must-do” activity in Glacier Bay. Take the only scheduled day tour boat in Glacier Bay National Park for an experience you won’t soon forget. Depart in the morning from Glacier Bay Lodge on the high-speed catamaran, Baranof Wind. As you make your way up the Bay you’ll enjoy fascinating narration about local wildlife and history. A National Park Service naturalist will share interesting facts about the animals and their environments. The glaciers are absolutely amazing. The experience, extraordinary. Lunch and beverage provided. Return to your deluxe log lodge for a delicious dinner.
