Point Adolphus has the largest congregation of Humpback Whales in the Alaskan Panhandle and is arguably the best place in Southeast Alaska to watch them. We will spend two full days and nights in this famous whale feeding area. A charter boat will take us from Gustavus to Point Adolphus, Alaska. See several humpbacks feeding and cavorting in the nearshore waters. Full breaches and waving flukes of these intelligent giants are a daily occurrence. A most memorable journey to the sea! Whales, Stellar Sea Lions, seals and a multitude of other sea and bird life follow us along this spectacular coastline. An occasional sea otter will swim by, while eagles soar overhead. At night, fall asleep under the canopy of the Tongass National Forest listening to the blows of whales frolicking offshore.

TOUR ITINERARY

Day 01
Individual transfer to the airport in Juneau. Scenic Flight from Juneau to Gustavus. Transfer to your hotel. Settle in your room and feel free to explore in the afternoon the surrounding area by bike or on a hike. |

Day 02
Early in the morning you meet your professinal kayaking guide and other group members to discuss the details of the tour. Afterwards we load the boat with all our gear and ride across Icy Strait to a beach near Pinta Cove, in the heart of the Tongass National Forest. Watch out for whales! We unload all of our gear into double kayaks and paddle about 5 miles along stunning coastline to our campsite on the other side of Point Adolphus. |

Day 03
We will be based in our wilderness camp for two nights. During the day we will paddle the coastline of Chichagof Island. Our paddling distance will be tailored to the group. Watch the whales breach and listen to their sounds. You will never forget the spectacular sight. Also watch out for eagles, haror porpoise, seals, seal lions and sea otters. There may be time for beach combing and forest walks. |

Day 04
We paddle to our pick-up point and board our charter boat back to Gustavus. Take the evening flight back to Juneau where your tour ends.
