Harriman Fjord Kayaking Tour
from Whittier, Gateway to Prince William Sound

Harriman fjord is a place of spectacular beauty and diversity that was only discovered 100 years ago. It belongs to the most protected from winds in all of Prince William Sound. Two mountains rise above 7,000 feet and five magnificent glaciers cascade into this amazing fjord that John Muir visited as a member of the Harriman Expedition. From these lofty peaks, five stunning glaciers descend into the sea. We begin outside the fjord and paddle our way around. You will travel through floating ice and "bergy bits" as you watch the glaciers' thunderous dance of destruction. We relax on a black sand beach with blue glaciers on three sides to enjoy the incredible ice show from a new perspective. Let our guides lead you on a hike through the verdant rain forest as we enjoy the many wild flowers, berries, views, and memories we gather along the way. Join us and witness the beauty, excitement, and history of the area.

Day 02-03 Harriman Fjord
After breakfast we explore the glaciers surrounding Black Sand Beach and paddle then into the shank of Harriman Fjord. The tides swing wildly here - the difference between low and high tides can be 18-20 feet (6-7 meters)! We will set up base camp at Viewpoint Beach where you can see all five tidewater glaciers at once. We will spend the rest of the day paddling, checking out different fjords and may have luck to spot a bear on the beach. Harriman, Surprise, and Serpentine Glaciers are stunning actively calving walls of ice. Piedmont glaciers abound here as well, offering some spectacular hikes.

Day 04 Harriman Fjord - Whittier
After breakfast we will break camp and paddle to Harrison Lagoon for a water taxi pick-up that will bring us back to Whittier by mid-afternoon.

Optional Extension:
For an additional day we will spend some more time to explore some additional coastline on Barry Arm, and offer more hiking trips.
